Jiggy Rawal is the founder and creative force behind The Curatist. She is involved in the discovery, development and presentation of the brand’s rum editions, helping shape how provenance, blending, flavour, design and service come together within each release.
The Curatist was created from the belief that excellence is discovered, selected and thoughtfully brought together. Applied to rum, that philosophy means exploring distinctive liquids from different origins and composing them into editions with their own sense of place, character and identity.
Every edition begins with discovery. The Curatist seeks distinctive aged rums whose character reflects their origin, maturation and cask history. These are brought together with The Curatist English rums, refined through blending and completed in specially selected finishing casks.
Cask finishing gives an edition its final layer of character. After the principal components have been brought together, the rum rests in a selected secondary cask so that the wood can contribute additional aroma, texture and complexity. Panama Edition, for example, rests for six months in Cognac casks.
The copper swift represents endurance, movement and return. Swifts travel extraordinary distances yet return to the same place to begin again, reflecting The Curatist’s philosophy of discovering spirits across different geographies and bringing them together within a new edition.
Panama Edition opens with vibrant aromas of sun-kissed tropical fruits layered with rich vanilla bean and dried fig sweetness.
